DSM chooses RescueSim for virtual incident management training!

DSM Chemelot, one of the world's leading multi-specialty chemical companies has chosen VSTEP RescueSim virtual incident training software for its industrial incident management training. RescueSim is a specialised virtual training platform that allows safety and security professionals to train for incidents in a virtual environment, without the dangers, costs and time associated with traditional practical training. VSTEP, Siemens and Dutch government partner for lock master simulator project.

Siemens and the Directorate-General for Public Works and Water Management (Rijkswaterstaat) partner with VSTEP to developed a hightech lock master training simulator. This simulator enables lock masters to train remote lock operations and incidents in a dynamically changing environment.

The simulator contains a highly detailed and realistic representation of existing locks in the Netherlands. Real-life scenario's and incidents can be created to test the skills of the lock master, and create a realistic simulation of the daily circumstances a lock master comes across. Read more...



Ship Simulator Professional v2.0 introduced to the press.

On January 27th, VSTEP introduced Ship Simulator Professional v2.0, its professional maritime simulator software to the international press and a select audience of partners. A new milestone for flexible, high quality/low cost maritime training and simulation, Ship Simulator Professional v2.0 includes a database of highly detailed vessels and accurately recreated environments. It also features a top notch simulation model, advanced ship dynamics and the best 3D visuals in the current professional simulator market.

Ship Simulator Professional v2.0 can be used on Windows XP & Windows Vista desktop PCs. It integrates seamlessly with external chart devices, AIS monitors, and other navigation instruments and hardware. Up to 8 serial connections or Ethernet can be used to separately configure different NMEA sentences, such as different update frequencies, baud rates, etc. 23 NMEA output sentences and 9 input sentences are supported.

VSTEP receives innovation award of Ministry of Economic Affairs.

On November 19th, 2008 during an award ceremony in The Hague, Secretary of State Van Bijsterveldt handed VSTEP and Risk Management Control the innovation prize for its project entry in the category ‘ICT for better safety’.

The award is part of the 7th M&ICT contest of the Ministry of Economic Affairs, aiming to stimulate innovative projects that lead to adequate improvement in the areas of safety, education, health and mobility. VSTEP was also an award winner in the 5th M&ICT innovation contest earlier this year and is very proud to have won this new award. Read more...



Dutch State Railways (NS) increases railway station safety!

Dutch State Railways (Nederlandse Spoorwegen) selected VSTEP to create an incident and procedure simulator to train safety personnel at Dutch railway stations. This Railway Station Incident Simulator is currently actively used to train and enhance the competences of Dutch State Railways safety officers nationwide and learns qualified safety personnel to respond to a wide variety of incidents (fire, bomb alert, train accident, etc.) by following the correct and required procedures in a realistic and true to life environment.

For this project, VSTEP recreated existing railway stations and train models in order to optimize recognisability and immersion into the training project. Read more...
